Ski Plane Fly- In
January 21, 2012
A festive gathering - snow or no snow - will be held on Saturday, January 21 at EAA’s Pioneer Airport for the annual EAA Ski plane Fly-In. If there is enough snow on the ground, an impressive array of ski planes will be welcomed. If the ground remains bare, airplanes are welcome to land at Wittman Regional Airport. A shuttle service will run all day to and from Orion and Basler FBOs. Skiplane pilots who wish to participate must receive approval and flight briefings from EAA prior to landing at Pioneer Airport. Contact EAA’s Kristin Busse at 920-426-4843 or kbusse@eaa.org for more information. Complimentary chili and cake will be served to celebrate the birthday of EAA’s matriarch, Audrey Poberezny, at Pioneer Airport beginning at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to this free of-charge event, so put on your best winter clothes and head out to the airport

Little Wings, Big Dreams:
Sport Aviation in Miniature
The museum’s newest exhibit, “Little Wings...Big Dreams, Sport Aviation in Miniature” opened March 20 in the Gilbert H. Hansen Photography Gallery. This exhibit showcases the remarkable skills and imagination of model aircraft builders of various disciplines, including radio control, free-flight, control line and static models. Many EAA members began their interest in aviation by creating model planes. Through the years, that interest grew into aviation careers and fascination with full size aircraft. Several members have loaned their models to this exhibit, since they are still active modelers and enjoy sharing their enthusiasm for their hobby with others.
